Located in the vibrant community of Milton, Ontario, The Institute for Learning & Mentorship (ILM) is a beacon of knowledge and guidance, deeply rooted in Islamic values and teachings. Our mission is to offer enriching learning experiences and mentorship opportunities to individuals of all ages, helping them navigate the multifaceted paths of life from a perspective anchored in Islamic wisdom and heritage.
Usama Syed grew up in Canada, which allows him to understand the struggles and pressures our youth face. Combined with his Islamic studies he is able to help the youth grapple with their challenges without compromising their faith. He has completed a diploma in Arabic, a Bachelors in Shariah, and a Masters in Fiqh from The Islamic University of Madinah. He’s fluent in English, Arabic, and Urdu, which allows him to have a stronger connection with the community. Since returning to Canada, he has served as a Director of Religious Affairs at Al-Falah Islamic Centre in Oakville, and presently as the Director of Religious Affairs with the Muslim Association of Milton. Usama loves Basketball and hopes to stay active. He also has great interest in history and science along with his passion for Islamic knowledge.
Umm Umar is very passionate about connecting people with the Quran. After spending her childhood in the UK, she relocated with her family to Jeddah, where she studied at a distinguished Quran institute, that focused on training them to become teachers of Quranic sciences. She also has a degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of East London, UK. She started the girl’s youth program for the Muslim Association of Milton and currently runs a local weekly sisters’ tafseer program. She is a native English speaker, and is fluent in Arabic and Urdu as well.
Umm Hasan is a mom of four. She draws tremendous experience from homeschooling them through the different schooling years including high school. She has a passion for learning and teaching Islamic studies. She is also very active and adventurous. She has a purple belt in BJJ. She also conducted the sisters’ youth program for the Muslim Association of Milton until recently.
